Legacy
Legacy is an eternal format that allows cards from all of Magic's history. With access to powerful cards spanning decades, Legacy offers some of the most skill-intensive and strategic gameplay in Magic, balanced by a carefully curated banned list.
Legacy was formalized in 1997 as Type 1.5, later renamed to Legacy in 2004. It allows nearly all cards ever printed, with a banned list to maintain balance.
