Penny Dreadful
Digital OnlyCommunity Format
Penny Dreadful is a budget format on Magic Online where only cards costing 0.02 tix or less are legal. The format self-regulates: popular cards rise in price and rotate out, keeping the metagame fresh. Most decks cost under $1, making it Magic's most accessible competitive format.
Penny Dreadful emerged around 2016 as a community-run budget format on Magic Online, where legality is determined entirely by card prices rather than a curated list.
